Police have confirmed a woman behind the wheel of a car which flipped on a Petersfield road last week was initially arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
More details have been given about the incident last Thursday (June 12) lunchtime on The Spain in which a blue Peugeot 107 landed on its side.
Emergency services were called at 12.10am amid reports that a vehicle had overturned on the road, with the car suspected of clipping a bollard and landing on its side near the Borough Road junction.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Police said: “The driver, a 52-year-old woman, was initially arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
“She was taken to hospital, where a bloods procedure was carried out.
“The woman was de-arrested, pending the results of the bloods procedure.”
Meanwhile, firefighters from Horndean also dealt with a vehicle fire near the Half Moon in Sheet on 4pm on Monday (June 16).
The blaze in the vehicle’s engine compartment was extinguished by firefighters using a hose reel jet. They made the scene on London Road safe and returned to the station just after 6pm.
