THREE young adult carers from the Kings Arms Youth Centre in Petersfield invited to a London conference also met Princess Anne on the day.
The youth centre in the Festival Hall car park helps support young carers in the Petersfield area; a young carer is young person, often still at school, who helps care for an adult relative, normally a parent.
The three carers, Sam, Ellie and Katherine, were accompanied to the Learning and Work Institute conference by volunteer youth worker Lisa Hillan, and Kings Arms target work project coordinator Victoria Brennan.
She said: “They all did a fantastic job discussing issues which affect Young Adult Carers and thoroughly enjoyed meeting Princess Anne.
“It was a very informative, inspirational and thought provoking day where they had the opportunity to assist The Children’s Society with a workshop and hear guest speakers from the Department for Education, and the Department for Work and Pensions.
“They also heard real life experiences and struggles from other young adult carers around the UK.”
