Waverley won by 83 runs at Elsted.

Put into bat, Waverley opened with Vir Singh and Wayne Torrey and it wasn’t long before Singh was bowled for two.

Andy Brown scored a useful 27, and when he fell the game was in the balance with Waverley on 80 for three.

Simon Brewer smashed 70 not out to give Waverley the upper hand, and Torrey scored an excellent 69 before he was bowled by Terry Wadey (two for 32).

Aiden Upward added a quickfire ten as Waverley finished their allotted 35 overs on a competitive score of 193 for six.

Waverley got off to an excellent start in the field, with Ali Mortiboys (three for 23) doing most of the early damage.

Wadey scored 23 to keep Elsted in the contest, but Scott Upward (two for 22) and Sam Tempest (two for four) took vital wickets as the home side were bowled out for 110.
