Farnham Town manager Paul Johnson was happy with his side’s efforts after they drew 1-1 against National League outfit Yeovil Town in a pre-season friendly.

The Town came from behind to hold the Glovers just three days after drawing 2-2 at League Two outfit Rochdale.

“It was a different game – it was a tough one after Rochdale, playing two good sides back-to-back,” said Johnson.

“We changed it up, went with a different shape and gave boys that haven't had so many minutes a few more minutes.

“Yeovil are young and mobile and look to play a certain way. They pass it, and that was pretty much the pattern – they passed it, we sat in and nothing happened.

“I thought we sat in our shape quite well – the boys took it on board – but I didn't think we were aggressive in the final third pushing on to Yeovil.”

The Town trailed 1-0 at half-time, but quickly equalised after the break through Sam Evans after an excellent run from Trae Cook-Appiah.

“At half-time I asked us to be a little bit more aggressive and we came out pretty strongly,” said Johnson.

“We couldn't get Trae in the game – we had a couple of opportunities in the first half and he couldn't quite get hold of it to turn and run at his man – but he got the opportunity and produced a moment of magic for Sam to score.

“I think the Wycombe, Rochdale and Yeovil games have been a good test and a good workout for us. It puts us in a good place.”

Farnham defender Dan Bayliss had to come off early on, but Johnson said it was a precautionary move.

“Dan had a tight calf and then he felt it, so it was just precautionary taking him off,” said Johnson.
