WE’VE had an Indian summer of sorts and the clocks have yet to turn back.
But the interior of a Petersfield shop will soon be decked with holly and tinsel by a group of well-wishers.
“We’ll soon be open for business” is the festive message to shoppers as the charity Christmas card shop has found a new home in Lyndum House.
The seasonal shop is moving into the empty 12 High Street unit previously occupied by At Home gift shop and will be open from October 8 to December 17. Its window space and prime position close to Marks and Spencer makes it the perfect location, according to shop manager Julia Crook.
She said: “I think it’s going to work quite well being on the High Street because there’s greater foot fall and we’ll make sure to have lots of eye-catching window displays.
“It will be a one-stop shop for Christmas cards and we’ll soon have it looking festive.”
She added: “What we stand for is charity and we’ll have cards for all the family under one roof.
“We would ask that people come to us rather than your local supermarket to buy Christmas cards because your money will go further.”
Christmas cards from 28 charities, including six local good causes including The Rosemary Foundation and Canine Partners, will be on sale as well as wrapping paper, tags and other Christmas goodies.
Posters advertising the new shop have started appearing around the town centre and signs will follow said Julia.
She added: “A lot of customers are still quite used to the fact it was in the library so being here on the High Street and being so visible should really help.”
