A new chapter has begun for dozens of over-55s in Liphook as the village's newest retirement community officially opened its doors.

Flora Place, a new development close to the village centre, was declared open by the chair of East Hampshire District Council, Cllr Penny Flux, who cut the ribbon alongside new homeowners and members of the onsite team.

The development has already welcomed its first residents and offers 39 one and two-bedroom apartments designed for independent living.

Guests at the opening celebration toured the apartments and communal facilities, including a homeowners' lounge, landscaped gardens and a guest suite for visiting family and friends.

Just a short walk from Liphook village square, Flora Place has been designed for people aged 55 and over, combining independent living with shared social spaces and on-site support.

Cllr Flux said: "It was a pleasure to officially open Flora Place and to meet the onsite team and new residents. I'm sure Flora Place will be a great addition to Liphook, and I look forward to visiting again and seeing homeowners enjoy everything Flora Place has to offer."

Developer McCarthy & Stone said local stakeholders had been consulted throughout the planning and construction process to help ensure the development complemented the character of the village.

The company added that regional contractors, suppliers and professional services were used during construction, helping support the local economy.

Residents will have access to optional social clubs and events, while a dedicated House Manager oversees the day-to-day running of the development. Each apartment is also equipped with a 24-hour emergency call system and secure camera entry.
