Petersfield’s town crier could have something more to shout about as she may be in the running to turn on the town’s Christmas lights.

But it depends if Faye Thompson is crowned Personality of the Year at the Petersfield Awards on October 24 with DJ Boz, filmmaker Jacob Parvin and Hectors entrepreneur Michelle Bicknell also vying for the title.

Town mayor, Cllr Chris Paige, has confirmed November 28 will be the day when Petersfield’s Christmas lights are turned on, but couldn’t say who will have the honour.

“It’s usually the winner of the Petersfield personality,” said Cllr Paige, adding that the town council has had chats with Hometown Events with regards to Lavant Street and helping their cause over the festive period.
