A FAIRTRADE Bake Off in Petersfield’s Physic Garden function room saw a range of well-presented entries from all age groups which included chocolate cakes, banana loaves, brownies, tiffin and sponge cakes.

Judges Anne Grove and Val Hart assessed and tasted the entries, all made with Fairtrade products, and provided feedback on each one.

Petersfield Mayor Jamie Matthews – pictured with Phoebe Cope, winner in the Best Presentation category – presented the prizes and certificates at the bake off event.

Spokesman for the Petersfield Fairtrade group Deborah Williams said: “The group would like to thank the local businesses, Halsa, The Natural Apothecary, Rainbows, The Co-op, The Bran Tub, Waitrose, Tesco and Marks and Spencer, for supporting the event so generously and providing the prizes.”

Among the winners were: Ellie Cope – adult winner; Sarah Caldwell – highly commended in the adult category; Harry Skrzypczak – junior winner; Freya Pugh – highly commended; Felix and Leo Frost – infant winner, with Robert Ostersen highly commended in the same class.

Angus and Morwenna Cockburn took the award for best use of Fairtrade ingredients, and Ania Skrzypczak won the award for the most imaginative bake.
