AN ART exhibition has launched at Petersfield Museum to enable people to learn more about the history of its police station.
Hold is a site responsive art exhibition inspired by the disused cells, exercise yard, the kitchens and outbuildings of the old Police Station and Court House complex in St Peter’s Road, next to the old courthouse.
The exhibition will explore the concept of ’Hold’ with its many connotations and contexts.
The exhibition will not only be housed in the museum’s community gallery but it will also be taking over the cells and the garages at the former Petersfield Police Station.
The Victorian station was recently purchased by Petersfield Museum.
The exhibition is the work of 6plus2 – a fine arts group with individual practices.
Their collective interest is in realising projects that respond to historical and architectural spaces, focusing on photography, drawing, painting, print, 3D installation and moving image.
The exhibition is open Tuesdays to Saturdays 10am to 4pm. Normal museum admission applies.
It runs until Saturday (October 7).
