LISS Area Historical Society’s week-long exhibition at the Triangle was a big success, say organisers.
In a new initiative for the society, their exhibition titled ‘Gems from the Liss collection’ was available to view over seven days.
Liss Area Historical Society chairman Ron McCann said: “We were really pleased with how the exhibition went. In the past our exhibitions have lasted for a single day, but we thought it was worth trying to have a longer exhibition.
“A steady stream of visitors through the whole of the period found considerable interest in the exhibits about The Ancient Order of Foresters, Liss Red Cross and other items which had not been shown in previous exhibitions.

The society was able to put the exhibition together thanks to donations and its own archive. Ron added: “A number of exhibits had been donated by Ray Swift, who has been a long-term member and very good supporter of the society.
“The society has its own archive which started 30 years ago, and a number of people are responsible for extending the collection, and vice-chairman Mike Jordan is our current archivist and he was the main organiser of the exhibition.
“We felt we have difficulty showing the public what we’ve got in our archive, and this exhibition was the perfect opportunity to do so.”
