A PETERSFIELD student did so well in a national competition that he has been selected to train alongside Team GB Olympic gymnasts.
Felix Coomber, a Year Eight student at The Petersfield School, competed in the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics National Setwork Finals to win one of just 30 training places.
Held in Birmingham, more than 500 boys in six age groups took part in the three day event.
Out of the 500 boys, only 30 get selected for the National Training Camp for nine to 15-year-olds at Lilleshall Gym in December "to acknowledge success and inspire development."
Due to his success at the finals, Felix was selected, and will now be coached by national coaches while training alongside the Olympic team.
Felix said: “This is the fourth time I have competed in the National Final, and it was my best performance so far. We say "teamwork makes the dream work" and it worked for me.”
In order to reach the Birmingham finals, Felix competed in three events, parallel bars, pommel, and high bars, in the South region competition in September in the U12 Level 4 group.
He won the parallel bars, got bronze on pommel, and bronze on the high bar, and came fourth overall, missing out on the Bronze Medal by the smallest possible margin.
