THE FINAL total of money raised for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal in the Liss district has been confirmed.

Poppy Appeal organiser for Liss district Nicola Kohn thanked all those who contributed to the appeal which took place in November 2015.

A total of £7,002 was collected during Remembrancetide fortnight in the Liss district, which includes the villages of Hawkley, Greatham and Empshott.

“Such an excellent result would not have been possible without the tireless support of the loyal band of volunteers, numbering over 60, who carry out house to house collections,” said Nicola.

“Their efforts, together with the loyal support of those shops, businesses, public houses, nursing homes, schools and garden centres in the area who have collecting boxes on their premises, are all gratefully acknowledged and appreciated.”
