SNOW has returned to East Hampshire with the weather conditions causing problems on public transport and on the roads.
The white stuff started falling in the district on Saturday morning, with heavy snowfall overnight leaving a covering for most places by dawn today (Sunday).
Early train services between East Hampshire stations and London this morning were affected by the overnight snow and ice, with disruption to some services caused by the freezing conditions.
There were problems for a time on the A3 southbound near to the Hindhead Tunnel when some vehicles got stuck in the snow and ice and had to be released by emergency services.
The amount of snow received across the district has varied from place to place. Some of the heaviest snowfall has been seen in areas north of the Hangers outside of Petersfield.
There are snow drifts alongside the road between Stoner Hill and the A32 several feet deep in some places and the gusting wind is blowing snow from the fields across the road in some places too.
No more significant snowfall is expected now and temperatures are slowly expected to get warmer over the coming few days.
