A suspected drug-driver has been arrested in connection with a fatal collision near Horndean which killed a 14-year-old boy.

The incident took place at 9pm on Monday (July 7) on Lovedean Lane in Catherington and involved a car towing a trailer and a pedestrian.

Despite the best efforts of emergency services and the Hampshire & IOW Air Ambulance the boy, who was the pedestrian, died at the scene. His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The driver, a 24-year-old man from Waterlooville, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving whilst unfit through drugs.

He has been released under investigation while officers are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage as part of their investigation.
