A lifetime of service remembered as Liphook mourns Sean Brady

Liphook is mourning the loss of a “true gentleman” after the sudden death of Brigadier Sean Brady, a much-loved figure whose decades of service, kindness and dedication left a lasting mark on the village.

A leading figure in the Liphook branch of the Royal British Legion, Mr Brady, 53, devoted himself to honouring the fallen and serving his community.

Beyond his 30-year career in the Royal Marines, his family described him as a “kind, generous and warm” man who lived to help others.

His sisters, Claire O'Neill and Jo Saha, said: “As a family, we have been deeply moved by the countless messages we have received from so many people whose lives Sean touched.

“Regardless of how people knew him, their memories are strikingly similar. They remember his relentless positivity, his wicked sense of humour, his boundless energy and, above all, his unwavering willingness to help others.

“While he leaves behind a huge gap in our lives that can never be filled, we know that the impact he had on so many people will endure. His legacy of kindness, wisdom and service will live on.”

Terry Eamey, chairman of the Royal British Legion branch in Headley, said Mr Brady had “put everything” into the British Legion.

He added: “I haven’t come to terms with the fact that he won’t be here anymore.”

Farnham and Bordon MP Greg Stafford also paid tribute.

He said: “Sean was kind, generous with his time and possessed of a warmth that made him such a respected and much-loved figure in our community.

“His commitment to remembrance and public service left a lasting mark on our villages. Sean’s death is a great loss to Liphook. He will be remembered for his quiet leadership, unwavering sense of duty and the example he set through a lifetime of service.”

A funeral service to celebrate Mr Brady’s life will be held on Monday, September 7, at 1pm at St Peter’s Church, Liphook.
