EAST Hampshire youngsters will have the chance to make Ewoks, Yodas, BB8s and R2-D2s, when play days come to a galaxy not-so far away during February half-term.

The play project run by the Rural Areas Play Project (RAPP), and the Get Activ8d sports coaches will be touring East Hampshire towns and villages during the half-term week, Monday, February 12, to Friday, February 16.

RAPP will be running Star Wars, Winter Olympics, Valentine’s Day, and Chinese New Year themed play events at venues in Petersfield, Liss, Medstead, Whitehill and Bordon, and Horndean.

There will also be a fun-filled, interactive magic show from Magic Charlie at Whitehill Village Hall on the Wednesday and the chance to meet some real-life creepy crawlies when Zoo Lab brings them to Jubilee Hall in Horndean on the Thursday.

East Hampshire District Council launched RAPP 12-years-ago so children aged four to 11 years old could enjoy fun activities, games, adventures, workshops and meet new friends in the school holidays.

Get Activ8d, which provides sporting activities to children aged seven to 14, is also back in February half-term in Petersfield, Whitehill and Bordon, and Alton.

The week will include street dance, cheerleading, hula hooping, tennis and trampolining sessions.

Cllr Julie Butler, Portfolio Holder for Customer Relations, said: “Parents, grandparents and anyone looking after children through the school holidays can find it hard to find stuff to do, especially in the more rural areas of the district.

“The aim of both RAPP and Get Activ8d is to help the parents by bringing the fun out to the children – offering a wide range of fun activities and sports in a wide range of areas.”
